Hysward P
Application
Use Hysward P for general weed control in sports turf, parks, cemeteries and airfields and other amenity grassland. It can also be used on established grassland for the control of annual and perennial broad-leaved weeds, by either overall treatment or spot application.
CAUTION: Do not use Hysward P where clover is an important constituent of the sward. AGRICHEM DB PLUS may be used for weed control in clover rich swards in agricultural grassland situations. Beware of drift in windy conditions, especially if sensitive crops eg. tomatoes, lettuce, brassicas etc are in the vicinity.
Hysward P may be applied at any time during the season, but ideally spraying should be carried out when the weeds are actively growing and the soil is moist. Hysward P is not so effective under drought conditions. Optimum weed control comes from treatment early in the season, during May but timing should take into account the management practices, the locality and the season.
Although Hysward P will significantly reduce perennial weeds, well established docks may re-generate from root stocks, if this occurs a second spray either as an overall spray or well targeted spot treatment may be beneficial to give long term control. A planned programme of spraying to eradicate docks with Hysward P should be discussed with your supplier or distributor.
AGRICULTURAL USES
Timing:
For perennial weed control in established grazing land, or where grass is taken for silage or hay, Hysward P should ideally be sprayed when the majority of weeds have reached the flower bud stage (just before flowering). The timing of the flower buds visible stage varies depending on the weed species (early in the season for species such as creeping buttercup, or later for weeds like thistles and docks). Weed re-growth after cutting for hay or silage should be at a similar stage before spraying.
Fields sprayed with Hysward P should not be cut for hay or silage or grazed for at least 14 days after treatment. If poisonous weeds such as ragwort or hemlock are present, the treated field should not be cut for hay or silage, or grazed until they have disappeared or become unpalatable.
AMENITY GRASSLAND AND MANAGED AMENITY TURF USES
Spraying may be carried out any time during the season providing that the weeds have been allowed to grow between mowings. A second treatment may be applied later in the season to control particularly heavy infestations, or the more resistant weeds. Hysward P may be applied by knapsack sprayer where overall treatment is inappropriate, for example to control the re-growth of established perennial weeds. Allow 4-6 weeks between applications to enable weeds to develop sufficient foliage to maximise uptake of the treatment.
The level of kill of individual weeds is related to their stage of growth at the time of treatment.
DO NOT CUT for 24 hours to allow the treatment to be absorbed, and preferably allow 2-3 days. DO NOT USE CUTTINGS as a mulch, however composted cuttings may be used 6 months after application.
DO NOT use on new grass for six months after establishment.
DO NOT spray on windy days to avoid drift and avoid drift onto all broad-leaved plants outside the target area.
DO NOT SPRAY when rain is imminent. DO NOT SPRAY during drought conditions, or when grass is otherwise under stress, such as following frost.
